Chickens At Four Weeks

I can hardly believe that the broilers are already four weeks old!  That means there is just four weeks to go.

Chicks At Three Weeks

Jonathan moved the chicks to the pasture this week!  Our pens are modeled after Joel Salatin's.  For anyone that hasn't herd of Polyface or Joel Salatin you should check them out.  Also for anyone that wants to see whats going on on at Polyface you might want to look at the Polyface Hen House (my sister, Leanna, writes on Thursdays).  Hope your Saturday was wonderful!

Straw

My dad and brother got our annual supply of straw last Saturday.  We use the straw primarily for mulching down the aisles of our garden.  It keeps a lot of unnecessary weeds down, and it is also much cleaner for sitting on when you're picking.  Another wonderful thing about straw, it is a effective way to reduce your potato beetle population.  For some reason or other they don't like it.  It has helped us so much!

Just a few shots from around the farm.  Everything is growing so fast!
